Ngày nhà giáo Việt Nam luôn là một ngày quan trọng với tất cả chúng ta. Truyền thống người Việt vốn hiếu học, tôn sư, trọng đạo.
Các cụ ngày xưa đã nói “Không thầy đố mầy làm nên”. Quả thật rất đúng. Các đây hai mươi năm, thầy cô giáo luôn gắn với hình ảnh cao quý, thanh liêm mà bần hàn. Chúng tôi ngưỡng mộ thầy cô của mình, ao ước được làm, nói, suy nghĩ giống như cô giáo của mình.
Ngày 20/11 cả lớp tụ tập nhau, nặn vét hết các túi kiếm được ít tiền đi mua cam, mua cây dừa nhựa, mua hoa tặng thầy cô. Tiền vét hết rồi nên phải đi bộ ròng rã hành tiếng trời mới đến được một nhà. Đi hết các thầy cô thì phải đến tối mới xong. Tuy mệt nhưng đứa nào cũng đi vì muốn được chen nhau ngồi với các anh chị học sinh cũ, tròn mắt nghe cô thầy nói chuyện, rồi hào hứng ăn những trái cam mình mang đến. Ngày xưa đi học thêm chỉ là khái niệm dành cho đứa học dốt. Cô giáo bắt đến nhà để phụ đạo. Tiền cũng chẳng có mà đôi khi còn phải đãi trò thêm bữa ăn hay kiêm luôn việc giữa trẻ vì bố mẹ học sinh còn bận đi làm.
Bây giờ thế giới đã thay đổi, kiến thức được trân trọng hơn bao giờ hết. Thầy cô cứ vô tư mở lớp học thêm tại nhà, cả lớp ai cũng phải học. Không học sẽ bị để ý. Thầy cô còn tổ chức nấu ăn cho các em tại nhà và coi luôn đến chiều cho bố mẹ tiện đi làm. Bài tập về nhà thầy cô sẽ kèm cặp cho trẻ làm, mọi chuyện rất thuận tiện. Nhưng bố mẹ phải thanh toán tiền học đầy đủ. Thế nên các thầy cô bây giờ sống rất dư dả, sung túc. Ngoài dạy thêm, các dịp lễ Tết thầy cô còn nhận được quà cáp. Có khác chăng là trước đây quà để chật nhà phải đem cho hàng xóm thì bây giờ quà cáp rất gọn nhẹ, tiện sử dụng – 1 cái phong bì. Bố mẹ học sinh từ lớp chồi cho tới đại học ai cũng rất biết phép tắc và cách cư xử. Nhưng nếu nhà nghèo thì đi học là chuyện quá khó khăn, không tưởng với những chi phí không tên như bây giờ.
Nếu ngày này tôi được ước, tôi sẽ ước giá mà lương của các thầy cô được trả xứng đáng để họ chỉ tập trung vào chuyên môn, không phải lo sinh kế và giữ mãi hình ảnh người thầy trong mắt con trẻ.
